Frequently Asked Questions

Real questions Illinois families ask Martin. No jargon. No pressure.

Coverage & Eligibility

Do I need a medical exam?
No. Golden Memorial final expense plans require no medical exam and no detailed health screening for most plans. You answer a short list of health questions on a one-page application. Coverage options may be available for eligible applicants. Some plans may include limitations, exclusions, or graded benefits — a licensed representative will explain how available options work before you apply.
What ages can get coverage?
Most plans cover ages 0 to 85. The specific range depends on plan type and coverage amount. During your consultation, we match you with the right plan for your age and needs.
Will my premiums ever go up?
No. Premiums on Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage are guaranteed level for life. The amount you pay on day one is the amount you pay forever, regardless of age or health changes.
Can the benefit amount decrease?
No. The death benefit is guaranteed and will never decrease as long as premiums are paid. Your family receives the full face amount.

Costs & Payment

How much does final expense insurance cost?
Premiums typically range from $25 to $150 per month, depending on age, coverage amount, gender, and tobacco use. A 65-year-old non-smoking Illinois female buying $10,000 of coverage typically pays $48–$58/month. Use our calculator for your exact range.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Most plans include a 30–31 day grace period. If payment isn't made during grace, the policy may lapse. Some plans offer reduced paid-up or extended term options. We'll explain your specific policy's protections.
Can someone else pay for my policy?
Yes. A child, spouse, or other family member can own and pay for a policy with you as the insured. We'll structure it correctly so there's no confusion at claim time.

Family Family & Beneficiaries

Who can be my beneficiary?
Any person or entity — spouse, child, grandchild, sibling, trust, even a funeral home directly. You can name multiple beneficiaries with specific percentages, and you can change them any time.
Can I get coverage for my parent or spouse?
Yes. You can be the policy owner and payor, with your parent or spouse as the insured. This is one of the most common ways families protect each other. The application requires the insured's consent and signature.
How quickly does my family get the benefit?
Most Lincoln Heritage claims are paid within 24–48 hours of receiving the required documentation (death certificate and claim form). Lincoln Heritage has a strong reputation for fast, compassionate claims handling.

The Process

How long does the application take?
Most applications are approved within minutes. No medical exam means no waiting for lab results. Coverage often begins immediately upon approval and first premium payment.
Do I have to talk to someone, or can I apply online?
We recommend a brief consultation first — even a 10-minute call — to make sure you understand your options. After that, we can handle much of the process electronically.
Is there a waiting period?
Most Golden Memorial plans provide full coverage from day one. Some graded plans have a brief period (typically 2 years) where the benefit is return of premiums plus interest if death occurs from natural causes. Accidental death is covered fully from day one on all plans.
